The City of Taguig has breached the one million mark of vaccines administered in its inoculation campaign to protect residents and workers against the coronavirus disease.

The local government administered a total of 1,015,029 jabs as of Sept. 7, joining three other cities in Metro Manila—Caloocan, Manila, and Quezon City—to hit the one million mark in the vaccination rollout.

Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano attributed “this milestone to the hard work of every healthcare and essential worker in the city who has largely contributed to contact tracing, vaccination efforts, and continuous implementation of the

Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate (PDITR) strategy versus COVID-19.”

He also thanked his constituents for the trust and confidence they have given to his administration regarding the city’s vaccination program against the deadly disease.

Alongside the local government’s aggressive efforts in all vaccination hubs, Cayetano said his administration will continue to focus on community-based vaccination through the Taguig Mobile Vaccination Bus, Mobile Vaccination Team, and Home Service Vaccination for bedridden citizens.

During his regular weekly forum, Cayetano highlighted the importance of vaccination on lowering hospitalization and fatality rates in the city.

He urged residents to encourage friends, families, and other people in the community who have yet to get vaccinated to get inoculated as well as to follow health and safety protocols.

“This September, Taguig’s goal is to administer second doses to the 70% of the city’s population. Through bayanihan, Taguig can achieve this target and it can eventually open the economy and bring back livelihood opportunities to Taguigeños,” said Cayetano.

The local government has provided 12 vaccination sites stationed in strategic areas in Taguig, Home Vaccination for bedridden family members, Vaccination Buses which are stationed in more accessible locations to various communities and groups in the city.
