Twenty-one persons were arrested as the National Capital Region Police Office intensified its crackdown operation against all forms of illegal gambling in Metro Manila.
NCRPO chief PMGen Vicente D. Danao Jr. ordered a continuous anti-gambling campaign that resulted in the apprehension of 21 suspects and the confiscation of gambling paraphernalia.
Based on the report, eight people were arrested for illegal gambling in Quezon City by the joint operation of the PNP Regional Intelligence Division (RID) and Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) on August 17 at 5:30 pm in Mabini Street, Barangay Sta. Lucia, Novaliches.
The suspects were identified as Raul Barandino y Lagunsat, Rolando Monera y Barandino, John Ryan Marinas y Palbao, Jesibol Obispo y Joyno, Fermin Dagnio y Acojido, Mario Arizobal y Hermosa, Javier Cinita y Casim and Balery Peronio y Rivero.
Meanwhile, 13 suspects were nabbed at about 7:45 PM on August 21 at Crossword St. Fourth Estate, Barangay San Antonio Parañaque City while betting in the Small Town Lottery as front for the illegal numbers game known as "loteng."
The suspects arrested and under police custody were Jose Pelaez y Solijion, Adela Crisostomo y Escala, Nerlio Cacho y Sampiano, Helen Donor y Borja, Dioscoro Honorio Jr, Victor Aquino y Abisado, Reyman Encarnacion y Paumil, Elmer Cortez y Portuguez, Christopher Labrador y Garcia, Christian Suarez y Dapitan, Ruben Foo y Hagosojos, Nelson Simbulan y Rabi and Eboy Hemor y Carait, of legal age and residents of the city.
Confiscated by the personnel of Parañaque Sub-Station 5, led by Commander PMaj Tirso T. Pascual as pieces of evidence were Php16,759 in bet money, 11 calculators, three columnar record books, five pads collection summary, and STL (small town lottery) paraphernalia.
All the suspects arrested were subjected to inquest proceedings for Violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or Illegal Gambling.
Danao reiterates his order to all NCRPO personnel to arrest all individuals involved in the operation of the illegal numbers game in their areas of responsibility and ensure the filing of appropriate charges.
