Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. continue to lead in various political surveys.

In a survey conducted by radio station dzRH from July 24 to 31, Duterte-Carpio led the list of possible presidential bets with a 25.4 percent preference rating.

Marcos, who ran for vice president in 2016 in tandem with President Rodrigo Duterte, placed second at 17.7 percent.

The survey showed Manila Mayor Isko Moreno in third place with 11.2 percent, followed by Senators Grace Poe and Manny Pacquiao with 10 percent each. Vice President Leni Robredo came in fifth place at 8.3 percent.

The survey has 7,500 respondents nationwide and a margin of error of +/-1.13 percent.

The respondents – all registered voters – were interviewed face-to-face.

Marcos, for his part, assured his supporters that he will run in next year’s elections even as he has yet to decide on the position.

“I have been ready for a long time already,” Marcos said when asked if he was ready to lead the country.

“I am definitely running for something in May of 2022. Right now, of course we are still looking, although we are approaching the filing.

Our campaign is different now because it is in the middle of COVID,” Marcos said.

In the last OCTA Research survey, Duterte-Carpio and Marcos were in consecutive positions, prompting some supporters to push for the two of them to run in tandem.

“Everything is possible. We don’t say anything is impossible. I’m also not saying this is what I want or this is what I don’t want. As far as I am concerned, I am open to any kind of team-up or partnership,” Marcos said.
