Manila Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan tested positive for COVID-19 while Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso tested negative.

Lacuna-Pangan said the positive result of her swab test came out early evening Sunday.

A doctor by profession, she said she did not expect she will be infected with the novel coronavirus as she has been “very, very careful” – constantly sanitizing her hands and even wearing double face masks.

The vice mayor, who has been fully inoculated against COVID-19, has been in charge of the city’s vaccination program, along with her husband, Manila Health Department chief Dr. Arnold Pangan.

She said she needs to temporarily rest from her job as she appealed to the public to take extra care and continue observing safety protocols.

The vice mayor recalled she began feeling symptoms of tiredness Friday. Come Saturday, she already had a sore throat and body pains that she decided to get a swab test on Sunday. Everything she ate also tasted bitter.

Domagoso asked for healing prayers for the speedy recovery of Lacuna-Pangan, saying she is highly instrumental in the success of the city’s mass vaccination program.
