Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra ordered a massive crackdown against illegal gambling operations in the city, including “loteng”—a portmanteau and literally a combination game of lotto and jueteng.

Yarra said the police will show zero tolerance for operators of the illegal numbers game in the city as he ordered the arrest and filing of appropriate charges against anyone using his name to protect “loteng” activities.

Based on reports, two individuals—identified only as “Pinong” and “Daniel”—were behind the illegal numbers game in Quezon City. The two were reportedly dropping the name of Yarra.

Yarra vowed to punish police personnel who will not take action on illegal gambling operations within their jurisdiction.

He said the crackdown will include not just the arrest of the two operators but also their bet collectors.
