Cayetano sets another P10k handout today

As support for the 10K Ayuda Bill gains ground, Taguig City Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano is set to distribute P10,000 each to around 300 beneficiaries in Laguna on Friday to highlight how the amount can help the country recover from the crisis brought on by the pandemic.

The “Sampung Libong Pag-Asa” initiative is part of Cayetano’s advocacy for the government to provide Filipinos families with cash assistance to help them purchase their basic needs and revive their sources of income amid the ongoing pandemic.

The distribution of cash aid will be broadcast live today on Cayetano’s official Facebook page, the former Speaker said in a statement.

In its launch last May 1, the “Sampung Libong Pag-Asa” highlighted the stories of beneficiaries who said the amount they received helped them rise up from the hardships they encountered when the country was placed under quarantine.

The launching program distributed P10,000 each to nearly 200 beneficiaries from 13 cities and provinces in the country.

Cayetano and his allies filed the 10k Ayuda Bill in February with the aim of providing a one-time assistance of P10,000 for every Filipino family or P1,500 per member, whichever is higher.

But the bill was not included in the House Committee on Economic Affairs’ consolidated version of the proposed Bayanihan 3.

The House leadership is instead pushing for the distribution of P1,000 per person, which Cayetano pointed out is lower than the amount the 10K Ayuda Bill is proposing.

“There is really consensus in the Philippines that the P10,000 cash aid is really much-needed by Filipinos and this would not only be better for the economy, but also for the families,” Cayetano said.

He renewed his call to the public to write their congressmen and local officials to endorse the 10k Ayuda Bill.

“Let us keep on trying to convince our congressmen,” the solon said.

He also encouraged the people to post their support for the bill on social media in order to let Congress know their sentiments.
