Amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Office of the Ombudsman is “physically closed” until May 14.

“In view of the extended Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine status of the National Capital Region until 14 May 2021, all offices of the Office of the Ombudsman in Quezon City will be physically closed from 03 to 14 May 2021,” the office said in a statement.

“However, the Office shall continue to adopt the alternative work-from-home arrangement permissible under civil service rules and the attendance of Ombudsman Prosecutors in virtual court hearings,” the advisory read.

“During this time, the reglementary period for the filing of pleadings, motions, affidavits and other relevant documents before the Office of the Ombudsman, Quezon City shall be deemed interrupted, and the period of the filing of such shall begin to run again when the Office is physical opened,” the agency noted.

“Corollary to this, the period of rendition of decisions, resolutions and orders shall be deemed interrupted for the same period and to begin to run again upon the Office’s physical opening,” it stated.
