Parties with pending cases before the Supreme Court have until Monday next week, May 10, to file all pleadings, motions and other submissions that had been required of them last March, when all courts

in the National Capital Region were physically closed due to enhanced community quarantine, now modified ECQ, until May 14.

In an advisory, SC Clerk of Court Marife Lumibao Cuevas stressed that the Court’s offices along Padre Faura Street in Ermita, Manila are physically open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting on Monday, May 3, to receive the documents and other court submissions from the parties.

The extension to file pleadings and other submissions should only be until May 9 but since it is a Sunday, the extension is automatically moved to the following working day, May 10.

The extension was approved by Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo.

According to the Court, only the SC is physically open until May 14.

All other courts in the NCR, the provinces of Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal, Abra, Quirino and Santiago City in Isabela – areas under MECQ – are physically closed and may be reached through their hotlines and email addresses.

Likewise physically closed are courts in areas which are declared by local government units under ECQ and MECQ.

Hearings of cases are done through video conferencing.

However, courts in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) and modified GCQ (MGCQ) are physically open with at least 25 percent of the workforce.
