Prime Media sets out to fill broadcast gap

Prime Media Holdings Inc. is now looking for a media group that can broadcast local shows and international sports events on television, the internet and other streaming platforms.

PMHI made the statement after entering a memorandum of agreement with New Era Empire Realty Corp. in March for leisure and hospitality development.

“We plan to produce local shows and host international sports events. We are open to working with content providers, especially those with interesting show concepts for television, internet and other platforms,” said PMHI Chairman and President Manolito Manalo.

With the cancellation of the ABS-CBN franchise, there are only two private free TV channels airing local programs: GMA-7 and TV-5.

PMHI is looking for a broadcast network with a national franchise to air locally-produced content.

“People are staying home nowadays. They have all the time to watch new shows, and so there is so much opportunity for new content for television and other platforms,” Manalo said.

Aside from entertainment, PMHI is exploring other businesses that are related to gaming.

“We are excited to start this venture. Together with our media partner, we can offer a unique content bundle that combines the excitement of both gaming and entertainment,” Manalo said.
