De Lima gets medical leave after stroke

Detained Senator Leila de Lima has been granted a three-day medical furlough by a Muntinlupa court after apparently suffering from a mild stroke.

The Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 256 granted a "very urgent motion" from the lawmaker's camp seeking a medical furlough and confinement.

The senator, her office said, experienced bouts of headache and persistent weakness since April 20.

An examination by her on-call doctor "left an impression that (she) experienced a Transient Ischemic Attack (mild stroke), hence the urgent and extremely important need to rule out a cerebrovascular accident."

De Lima assured the court that she will not prolong her stay at the hospital than what is necessary.

Muntinlupa RTC Branch 256 Judge Romeo Buenaventura asked the senator's camp to submit a written report on De Lima's diagnosis before the furlough expires.
