The Department of Justice has found probable cause to indict Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office board member Sandra Cam, her son, and five others in connection with the killing of a vice mayor in Masbate in 2019.

The Office of the Prosecutor General said the DOJ will file a murder case in court against Cam, Marco Martin Cam, Nelson Cambaya, Junel Gomez, Bradford Solis, Juanito De Luna, and Rigor dela Cruz.

Frustrated murder charges will also be filed against the same persons for the wounding of Alberto Alforte IV, who survived the ambush that killed Batuan, Masbate vice mayor Charlie Yuson III.

The DOJ has yet to release a copy the resolution.

Reports showed that Yuson was having breakfast when he was gunned down in Sampaloc, Manila on October 9, 2019.

Gomez, Solis, De Luna, and Dela Cruz were arrested the day after the incident.

Yuson’s wife, Lalaine, said her husband had told her that only Cam would do him harm. Marco Cam lost to Yuson’s son, Charmax, in the 2019 mayoral election in Batuan town.

Cam earlier denied they have involvement in the ambush.

“It is so unfair that our family is being dragged into this, we’ve moved on from that election,” Cam said in a statement after Yuson’s death.
