Rumohr family offers P1 million reward to catch killers, masterminds

A family whose members were victims in a series of killings in Calbayog City, Samar, and Manila has offered a P1 million reward to anyone who can give information on the killers, handlers, and masterminds of the slays.

According to Ova Rumohr, a relative of the victims who were ambushed from 2018 to January this year, they are ready to offer a reward to anyone who can provide them with verified information on the people behind the killings.

“Family feud” is being floated as the root of the killings that are purportedly aimed at wiping out a part of the clan because of a dispute in land and business of the Rumohr family of Calbayog City.

Lawyer Levi Baligod, who represents the family, said the series of ambushes “clearly shows that the motive is to wipe out the family. They don’t have any enemies except their relatives because of a dispute over land and business.”

Ovarah, a sibling of one of the victims, said their relatives, whom she did not name, are behind the attempted murder of her brothers Ignacio and Henry Rumohr, and the killing of several of their family members.

“To our relatives who are behind this, you know who you are! Whether you are in Calbayog or not, or outside the country, justice will catch you and we will make sure that you will be imprisoned. We cannot do what you have done but we will fight you through law and justice,” said Ovarah.

Besides the P1 million reward, the family is also willing to give a big reward to the killers if they voluntarily surrender to the police and identify the people behind the attempted murders.

“To those who agreed to be used as a gun for hire and to their handlers, we are asking you… you will be traced by law because there is CCTV footage that will be revealed soon. Instead of suffering, we beg your compassion. We know that poverty is the reason why you agreed to do the job,” Ovarah added.
