The Anti-Red Tape Authority has commended the Customs collection district at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport for promoting ease of doing business and innovation in streamlining processes.

This was after District Collector Carmelita Talusan presented to ARTA the port’s Ease of Doing Business Initiatives, which include feedback mechanism analytics, help desks, Customer Care Centers and the creation of a One Stop Shop at the airport.

Talusan made the presentation during the inter-agency forum with ARTA Director General Jeremiah Belgica as guest speaker on March 23 via Zoom.

During the conference, Belgica discussed the overview of Republic Act 11032 and the Mandates of the Anti-Red Tape Authority.

He emphasized the implementation of the Ease of Doing Business Act compliments the Socio-Economic Agenda of the country to streamline the current systems and processes for a better government service.

Belgica praised the Bureau of Customs for its efforts in pursuing change within the agency.

“I would also like to congratulate Port of NAIA for their efforts and accomplishments in Ease of Doing Business. I would also like to point out some impressive initiatives that was presented such as establishment of QR ticketing for documents, and enhanced feedback mechanism with analytics,” he said.

Belgica also commended Talusan’s team for the timely creation of 24/7 One-Stop-Shop for COVID-19 related shipments such as personal protective equipment, test kits and vaccines during the pandemic.

Talusan, for her part, said the bureau under the leadership of Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero will remain committed in its mandate to facilitate trade and streamline customs processes in line with the Ease of Doing Business Act, while ensuring the security of the nation’s border and prevention of revenue leakages.

“We thank Director General Belgica for gracing the forum, and we also recognized ARTA as an integral partner of the Bureau of Customs in pursuing change and in further enhancing government services by consistently promoting Ease of Doing Business,” she said.

The Customs collection district in NAIA has been in the forefront expediting releases of all COVID-19 related items such as face masks and PPEs with complete manpower in all warehouses and all passenger terminals of the airport.

The Port of NAIA also organized the One Stop Shop to facilitate the release of imported PPEs and other items needed to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
