The director general of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency lashed back at party-list Rep. Carlos Zarate for accusing the intelligence agency as the source of fake news or wrong information disrupting the democratic life of the Filipinos.
NICA Director General Alex Paul Monteagudo vehemently denied Zarate’s accusations saying it is the job of his agency to protect and defend the Constitution against “destructive forces” especially now that these groups have already invaded the House of Representatives.
Last Sept. 29, during the NICA budget deliberations, Zarate and the other members of the Makabayan bloc such as Bayan Muna, ACT, Gabriela and Kabataan Party-list, accused Monteagudo of being the source of wrong information because of his shared posts to various Facebook accounts.
Monteagudo explained that the information he shared in his Facebook account mirrors the expressions of citizens that share the same sentiments with regards to the experiences of former rebels, indigenous peoples and parents who lost their children at the hands of the Communist Party of the Philippines.
He said that what is really saddening is that people like the members of the Makabayan bloc led by Zarate are occupying positions in Congress.
The NICA chief said Zarate even ‘pretends to be the defender of rights but in fact is part of the organization declared as terrorists who claimed the lives of so many Filipinos and destroyed the normal life of so much families wanting to live a peaceful life.’
The NICA official said that he is sharing the experiences of IPs in his Facebook account to protect innocent people, especially the youth, from believing in the deceptions of the CPP/NPA/NDF, which continue to recruit individuals to fight a violent war against the government.
He added that whatever he is posting on FB, these are what the IPs had already experienced and had exposed. He said that it was the IPs who experienced exploitation from the terrorist group, which he said is now part of a network in Congress.
Monteagudo also accused the Makabayan bloc of being the reason a lot of parents are in anguish for losing their children, who were brainwashed to join the terrorist group and fight using a wrong ideology.
He said that the Makabayan bloc is part of the CPP/NPA that was recently declared by the country and five other nations including the United States and European Union as a terrorist organization.
He added that all the members of the CPP have pledged allegiance to the CPP flag and fight a violent war to destroy the Constitution and government.
The NICA executive also said that he was no longer surprised when the Makabayan bloc itself tried to railroad the proposed budget being asked by the National Task Force to End the Local Communist Armed Conflict from the Presidential Communication Operations Office, National Security Council and NICA.
Monteagudo said that in the last 51 years, thousands of young people lost their lives after being duped to join the CPP/NPA/NDF, through the misinformation and wrong beliefs being shared to these young minds.
“Who will reveal the truth if we are cowed and intimidated by these congressmen? Kung hindi tayo sino at kung hindi ngayon, kailan? Sa aking mga kababayan, magtulungan po tayo upang protektahan ang ating pamilya at mga anak laban sa panlilinlang at pang aabuso ng mga CPP/NPA/NDF Communist Terrorists.
“Mahigit 50 taon na tayong pinagsasamantalahan ng grupong ito. Tama na! Itigil na natin ito! Let us not allow them to deceive us for another 50 years and this is the reason why I am telling our people the truth,” he added.
The NICA official said he will continue to share FB posts because this will reveal the real intention and character of people behind the Makabayan bloc.
