The Joint Task Force Sulu said government troops had overtaken a suspected lair of Mundi Sawadjaan in Indanan, Sulu on Tuesday morning.

According to Colonel Antonio Bautista, commander of the 1101st Brigade, the JTF Sulu reported that the site was where Sawadjaan and more or less 40 local terrorists hid for almost three days.

He said the military seized some personal belongings and food in the area.

Sawadjaan is suspected to be the mastermind of the twin explosions that killed 15 individuals and hurt more than 70 others in Jolo town last August 24.

Troopers are now pursuing Sawadjaan and his men, who, according to the Western Mindanao Command is still in Sulu contrary to earlier reports that he is in Zamboanga province.

“We are employing the full force of JTF Sulu’s military assets to track down the group of Mundi Sawadjaan,” JTF Sulu commander Brigadier General William Gonzales said.

“We are winning in our peace and development campaign in the island of Sulu; in due time, the dwindling number of the terror group will surely be decimated with the active cooperation and support of the governor and municipal mayors,” he added.
