To help reduce water pollution in the Manila Bay, west zone Maynilad Water Services Inc. has resumed the P1-billion construction of a new sewage system in Metro Manila.

Ramoncito Fernandez, Maynilad president and chief executive officer, said the water firm continued the establishment of the P1-billion sewage treatment plant in Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa City, following the implementation of the general community quarantine in the National Capital Region.

He said the sewage treatment plant, which is called the Cupang water reclamation facility, is part of Maynilad’s long-term plan to expand sewerage coverage in its concession area.

Moreover, he added, the construction of the treatment facility would help reduce pollution loading in the Manila Bay.
