Detained illegal firearms, drug suspect dies–NBI

The National Bureau of Investigation said a suspect in an illegal drugs and firearms cases earlier detained at the NBI detention center was rushed to the Philippine General Hospital on Saturday afternoon and died.

NBI Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Eric B. Distor identified the suspect as Philip Jacob Nocom, a 47-year old inmate who is facing charges for illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms.

Distor said Nocom was arrested by operatives of the NBI-International Operations Division (NBI-IOD) and NBI-Task Force Against Illegal Drugs (NBI-TFAID) on June 25, 2020 in a condominium unit in Marikina City. When he was found by the NBI operatives together with security officers of the condominium tower and barangay officials, Nocom, with aliases Alex Benson Vergara, John Robert Bautista, and Joseph Francis Lee, was lying on his bed almost unconscious and weak.

Various firearms and ammunitions and two kilos of illegal drugs (shabu) worth P13 million were also found in his condo unit.
