Tacloban City—The Philippine Red Cross-Southern Leyte chapter and local government of Maasin City opened its safe quarantine facility for returning local stranded individuals through the first Red Cross 143 COVID-19 Skills Camp.

“What makes this quarantine facility unique, aside from the camp setting, is that during the 14-day quarantine, the dwellers will undergo various skills training,” said Jonas Maco, Red Cross Southern Leyte chapter president.

“Philippine Red Cross is doing isolation installation of tents but only in Southern Leyte that we have regular programs offered for them not to be bored and enjoy while staying at the safe quarantine facility,” he added.

Maco also thanked Maasin City Mayor Nacional Mercado, partner agencies, Diocese of Maasin, and benefactors for their support in opening the camp at the Danao Forest Park, some 15 kilometers away from the city.

According to Maco, the skills camp had complied with the health protocols set by the Department of Health.
