A 100 percent Filipino-owned ride-hailing motorcycle company has partnered with Rizal province's Antipolo City to mobilize tricycle drivers as delivery bikers amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Noli Eala, JoyRide vice president for corporate affairs, said the onboarding of the new Kasundo delivery bikers would start on May 20. He vowed to comply with the government's health protocols to ensure the safety of their bikers and customers, such as disinfection of the bike unit, wearing of face mask and alcohol sanitation.

He said the new bikers would only deliver products, such as food, and that a no-back ride policy would be strictly prohibited.

JoyRide and Happy Move inked an initiative with Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro Ynares to initially help some 200 tricycle drivers who have lost their source of income due to the enhanced community quarantine.

"We are in a pandemic right now and many Filipinos lost their jobs, especially in the transportation sector. In Rizal, we have 15,500 tricycle units. With the help of JoyRide and Happy Move, we can tap and help our drivers who have no source of income,” Ynares said.
