Adapt to new normal, PopCom urges youth

City of San Fernando—With novel coronavirus plaguing the globe, the Commission on Population and Development urged youngsters to familiarize themselves with a new normal way of life and adopt with the situation to lessen the impact of COVID 19 pandemic and the Extended Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Central Luzon POPCOM director Vicky Barbea de la Torre also encouraged teenagers to optimize the use of social media and other e-learning platforms in population control awareness as part of the government advocacy to prevent population explosion.

The Philippines population is more than 108 million, according to 2019 statistics.

“We should familiarize ourselves with the new normal and try to optimize the use of social media and other online learning platforms to advocate the programs we have under the Philippine Population Management Program,” said De La Torre. Jess Malabanan

A self-pace on-line seminar on Adolescent Health and Development, De La Torre said was launched to reach out to young adults for them to have an access of the POPCOM programs which include Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning especially during the quarantine period. Jess Malabanan
