Metro Manila Development Authority general manager Jose Arturo Garcia Jr. announced on Monday he was tested negative for coronavirus disease.

“I am pleased to inform everyone that I have now tested negative for the COVID-19. I would like to thank you all for your prayers and support. I will continue to self isolate in accordance with the DOH guidelines,” said Garcia in a statement.

Garcia went on self quarantine after learning one of the persons who attended their meeting last month got infected with the deadly disease. He said he went on home quarantine as part of the health protocol to stop the spread of the disease.

Aside from Garcia, MMDA spokesperson Assistant Secretary Pircelyn Pialago is also currently on self quarantine.

Last Sunday, Garcia participated in a video conference meeting with MMDA chairman Danilo Lim, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Senator Richard Gordon, and other government officials, including Metro Manila mayors, to discuss the planned mass testing of those considered persons under investigation and monitoring.
