To ensure a comfortable life for all Malabonian families under the enhanced community quarantine, Malabon City Mayor Lenlen Oreta announced his plan to endorse all families living in the city to avail of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s social amelioration package (SAP).

“As early as 2015, no less than the Philippine Statistics Authority has already recorded a total population of 365,525 people, which roughly translates to more than 86,000 families,” Oreta said.

“We definitely have more families today yet the DSWD has allotted only 44,032 slots for the whole city,” also said Oreta, citing a letter from the DSWD informing him of the agency’s program.

As such, the local chief executive has instructed all 21 barangays to update their database of families so he can endorse a master list of all Malabonian families and to avail of the national government’s much-awaited social amelioration package.

“COVID-19 spares no one, rich or poor. Every family deserves aid from the government in these extraordinary times. No one should be left behind,” he added.

For its part, the City Government of Malabon has mobilized e-trikes under its “Palengke-on-Wheels” program in line with physical distancing. It has distributed almost 3,000 sacks of rice, more than 300,000 canned goods, almost 150,000 sachets of coffee, and over 16,000 relief packs from various donations weekly to reach all families living in the City.
