Department of Health—CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) on Sunday turned over the second sea ambulance to the local government of Calauag, Quezon to serve patients from its distant island barangays.
The second sea ambulance purchased by the department will be equipped with essential medical equipment and emergency kits that will be used during health emergencies and even rescue operations in times of sea disasters.
Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo said the sea ambulance will also provide preventive health care services such as wellness visits and standard immunizations.
“The system will provide access to GIDAs and will manage the delivery of health services in the island barangays,” Janairo said.
The cost of the sea ambulance is P3,000.000 through a sub-allotment fund from the central office worth P21,000,000 for the purchase of 7 sea ambulances in CALABARZON through the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) which aims to provide medical transport in order for patients living in island communities to have access to quality health care services.
Five more sea ambulances will be given this year to the island communities of Quezon to ensure the prompt delivery of basic health services and faster response to emergency patients.
The blessing and turnover ceremony of the sea ambulance was attended by 4th District Representative Helen Tan, and Calauag Mayor Rosalina Visorde and members of the Sangguniang Bayan.
