Two new Court of Appeals justices officially assume posts

The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday announced the oath-taking of two new Court of Appeals (CA) justices who were appointed last Feb. 24.

Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo administered the oath to CA Associate Justices Edilwasif Baddiri as successor of retired Justice Eddwin Sorongon.

On the other hand, Associate Justice Jeoffre Willkom Acebido took his oath on Monday, April 14, replacing retired Justice Victoria Isabel Paredes.

Baddiri served as presiding judge of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 115 in Pasay City from 2015 to 2023, then as executive Judge of the RTC, also in Pasay.

He also served as Commissioner of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos from 2010 to 2015.

Acebido was presiding judge of RTC Branch 41 in Cagayan de Oro City and served the bench for 16 years as RTC judge.

Acebido, a recipient of Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano Award for Judicial Excellence, also previously worked as a prosecutor, public attorney, and senior legal officer at the Commission on Human Rights.
