The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has destroyed P331.2 million worth of illegal drugs in Region 9, the largest of such activity ever conducted in the region.
PDEA regional director Maharani Gadaoni-Tosoc spearheaded the destruction of more than 48,689 grams of shabu and 1,041 pieces of expired medicines, as well as 37 kilos of shabu seized from two separate raids in Zamboanga City last year.
The incineration of the illegal drugs through took place at the Libertad Power and Energy Corp. in Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.
According to the PDEA, the destruction was carried out in compliance with directives issued by the lower courts of Pagadian City, Molave, Aurora and Zamboanga City, and in coordination with key government agencies and stakeholders.
Tosoc said the event underscored the agency’s relentless efforts in the war against illegal drugs.
“This is a testament to our unwavering commitment to eliminating illegal drugs and ensuring these confiscated substances will never reach the streets again,” she noted.
With the record-breaking destruction, PDEA 9 vowed to continue strengthening its anti-drug campaign, assuring the public of its dedication to a drug-free community. Rio N. Araja
