Army chief joins military leaders in land forces summit in Japan

Philippine Army (PA) Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido joined top Army and Marine Corps chiefs from the Indo-Pacific Region in the 2nd Land Forces Summit (LFS) held in Camp Ichigaya, Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan on December 14 to 15.

Galido joined Philippine Marine Corps Commandant Maj. Gen. Arturo G. Rojas, Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) Chief of Staff Gen. Yasunori Morishita, US Army Pacific Chief Gen. Ronald P. Clark, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Pacific Chief Lt. Gen. James F. Glynn and Australian Army Chief Lt. Gen. Simon Stuart in the said summit.

During the LFS plenary discussion, military leaders from participating nations shared and exchanged views on their strategic environment assessments to develop a common understanding of the region’s security landscape.

The said forum provided a platform for the Philippine Army to strengthen its military alliance with the US and partnership with like-minded Asia Pacific nations within the framework of multilateral cooperation.

The LFS also opened avenues for PA to leverage international partnerships to strengthen its training and capability development in support of territorial defense operations. Rex Espiritu
