Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday commemorated Bonifacio Day as a celebration of freedom and the fearless struggle against challenges such as poverty, hunger, and unemployment.
“It is important that our celebration of the greatness of Andres Bonifacio opens our eyes to the conditions of our country,” Duterte said in Filipino in her statement.
“This is also one of the things that inspired us to struggle and become loyal and true Filipino citizens,” she added.
The Vice President emphasized the enduring significance of Bonifacio’s heroism and sacrifice for the country’s freedom, urging Filipinos to value and protect it by standing up for what is right.
“Let us spread the message of Bonifacio’s heroism amongst each other and hopefully it lights the fire within us to become more resilient, brave, and determined,” Duterte said.
