AirAsia reminds passengers of ‘pasalubong’ guidelines

AirAsia Philippines is encouraging travelers to familiarize themselves with essential baggage and ‘pasalubong’ guidelines.

This initiative aims to avoid delays and ensure a smooth travel experience during the holiday season, as many Filipinos prepare to bring home gifts and souvenirs.

“We appreciate how important it is for our kababayans to return with special gifts and memories. We recognize the concerns around baggage limits, which is why we offer flexible baggage options. This allows our guests to pack as many pasalubongs as they want, provided they adhere to our guidelines,” said AirAsia Communications and Public Affairs Head, First Officer Steve Dailisan.

Airports have specific rules regarding certain items, including smelly fruits and foods, fresh or frozen seafood and meats, liquids, aerosols, gels, electronics, gadgets, and fragile or valuable goods.

These items must be properly packed according to airline standards and placed in a transparent or resealable 1-liter plastic bag.

It is strongly advised that electronics, gadgets, and fragile items not be checked in as baggage.

Passengers are allowed to carry electronic devices with lithium or lithium-ion cells (between 100Wh and 160Wh) for personal use; however, spare batteries must be kept in carry-on baggage.

Portable electronic devices containing lithium metal or lithium-ion cells or batteries can be included in checked baggage, except for e-cigarettes and self-balancing battery-powered small vehicles. Wheelchairs with batteries can be checked if prepared according to the guidelines.

Musical instruments that exceed standard cabin baggage dimensions but weigh no more than 75 kg can be carried in the cabin if a separate seat is purchased. However, no additional baggage allowance is associated with this seat.

Travelers can carry two pieces of unchecked baggage, which may include a cabin bag, laptop bag, handbag, or small bag, with a total weight limit of 7 kg. Both the cabin bag and the additional small bag must fit under the seat or in overhead storage.

Passengers can purchase one checked bag per booking, with a total weight allowance of up to 60 kg. However, each individual bag must not exceed 32 kg.
