The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said it will deploy 11,347 personnel to ensure the safety and security of the public as the Holy Week and summer vacation approaches.
NCRPO Director Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said comprehensive measures will be implemented to address the challenges posed by the convergence of the observance of Lent from March 25 to 31, and the onset of the summer vacation from April 1 to May 31.
Many Filipinos and returning overseas workers will be traveling to their hometowns to observe the Holy Week and celebrate fiestas, which may cause congestion in transportation hubs, airports, seaports, and roads in Metro Manila.
To address this, the NCRPO collaborated with local government units, other law enforcement agencies, and private stakeholders to establish a comprehensive security framework.
The NCRPO will also enforce traffic management strategies, including deploying personnel to critical traffic points and establishing Police Assistance Desks (PADs) to assist travelers across the region during the Holy Week and summer vacation period.
“We are dedicated to creating a secure environment during the Holy Week and summer vacation. We urge everyone to be partners in ensuring a peaceful and enjoyable season,” Nartatez said.
“We encourage the public to cooperate, remain vigilant, and report suspicious activities, individuals, or groups to law enforcement authorities,” he added.
The Southern Police District said it will also increase its presence to 5,769 personnel across key areas, about 40 percent of which will focus on border control points, law enforcement checkpoints, foot patrols, and mobile/motorcycle patrols.
