The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) disclosed that it would upgrade its closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at key airport areas and immigration counters.
MIAA Senior Assistant Manager Bryan Co at the public briefing on Tuesday, said “we identified critical cameras in areas where passengers go in and out of Immigration areas, where passengers pass through the pre-departure gates. When arriving and where they pass, we were able to identify the key cameras to upgrade.”
Co, quoted by GMA News, also said “this week, we are undergoing the procurement process. We will release the NAIA requirements and we aim to award this by next week, Monday.”
“The retention period will increase from 30 to 90 days, effective two weeks from now,” he added.
Co noted that MIAA had sufficient resources to upgrade the CCTVs and shared that the first phase of the change in terminal assignments of several airlines, which began on April 16, had gone smoothly and efficiently.
As for the free MIAA shuttle service that brings passengers to terminals, the service would end on May 16. Its extension was subject to assessment.
Meanwhile, the MIAA said that starting July 1, the NAIA-2 would be used exclusively for domestic travel, except for Cebu Pacific.
By June 16, several international airlines using Terminal 2 would be transferred to Terminal 1. Over 120 to 150 immigration officers would also be transferred between Terminals 1 and 3.
