Makati’s newest centenarian gets P100k

The Makati City government has identified a new centenarian awardee, bringing to 106 the total number of 100-year-old citizens of the city since the program was implemented in 2012.

Makati congressmen Luis Campos and Romulo Pena personally visited Yolanda De Asis at her home in San Miguel Village, Barangay Poblacion and gave her the P100,000 cash gift, certificate of appreciation, and flowers from the city government.

De Asis, born on Jan. 23, 1923, joins the city’s exclusive club of The latest awardee met the criteria set by the Makati Social Welfare and Development, the lead implementer of the Blu Card Program.

The rules pro vide that the awardee must be a Filipino citizen, must be a bonafide resident of Makati, must have reached 100 years old between January to December of the current year; and must be a Blu Card and White Card holder for at least five years.

Makati’s initiative to award P100,000-check to centenarians came Filipino centenarians.

City Ordinance No. 2012-099 entitles Makati senior citizens who are Blu Card holders to a one-time P100,000 cash gift upon reaching 100 years old. It serves as a tribute for their significant contributions and role in the history and development of the city.
