COTABATO CITY—President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. will grace today’s opening of the Second Bangsamoro Parliament here.

Malacanang released earlier the list of the appointed Members of Parliament (MPs) of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA).

The Office of the Solicitor-General of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Sol-Gen BARMM) confirmed that the President has reappointed MP Ahod Al-Hadj Murad B. Ebrahim as BTA chief minister.

In closed-door meetings, elements of the Presidential Security Group (PSG) briefed members of the BTA Parliament and officials on the security and diplomatic protocols that are normally in place during a presidential visit.

On Wednesday, Manila and regional officials also met with journalists on security and accreditation for media coverage.

Mr. Marcos will address the Second Parliament of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) which now has new appointees joining other first-term members who have been reappointed by the President during ceremonies in Malacañang on August 12.

Officials said part of the ceremonies slated for the inaugural session would be amass oath-taking of the BTA Parliament members.

Many of the MPs expected the President to administer their oath of office.

The President has appointed 41 MPs among nominees of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), and 39 MPs nominated by the Philippine Government through the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, Reconciliation and Unity (OPPAPRU).

Of the 80 Marcos-appointees to the Second BTA Parliament (2022–2025), 49 had served the First BTA Parliament (2019-2022), while 31 are new appointees to the Second Parliament.

OPPAPRU Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. said the inaugural opening of the Second BTA Parliament, “sends a clear and strong signal that the Marcos administration is firm and determined, more than ever, to

complete the implementation of all signed Bangsamoro peace agreements.”
