The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) has commended one of its screening officers in Clark International Airport (CIA) in Pampanga for honesty by returning a wallet with a huge amount of money to a foreign traveler.

OTS administrator Undersecretary Ma Aplasca identified the honest airport security screening officer (SSO) as Lalaine Anciado.

“Anciado promptly returned to the 53-year-old Korean passenger a wallet containing cash amounting to P54,000 which was inadvertently left on a tray on 19 August 2022, at the final security screening checkpoint at CIA in Pampanga,” the OTS said.

Seong Bae Lee, a Korean national and passenger of JinAir flight LJ-024 bound for Incheon, South Korea, was determined as the legitimate owner of the lost item after the SSO team made the standard verification process.

Lee thanked Anciado for her honesty.

Aplasca, for his part, said he admired Anciado’s gesture in returning the traveler’s wallet. He encouraged other screening officers to continue doing the right thing, saying “God is watching”.

Three years ago, CIA management also commended an Aeta airport utility worker who returned an envelope containing US$1,000 to a departing passenger.

Grace Laxamana, 42, said she noticed an envelope left unattended on one of the gang chairs at the second floor of the international departure area.
