Bayanihan E-Konsulta, the Office of the Vice President’s free online consultation program started at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, will operate only until May 31 as part of the transition process toward the next administration.

“We thank wholeheartedly all who volunteered to be able to reach our fellowmen who needed medical assistance amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” Vice President Leni Robredo said in a statement Tuesday.

Her office also said it is closing down its social services assistance program by June 1.

“In preparation for the incoming administration, the OVP will stop its medical at burial assistance on June 1, 2022,” the OVP said.

“We express our heartfelt gratitude for your trust. It is an honor to be of service to you,” it added.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who participated in this volunteer effort for us to be able to provide urgent medical help to our fellow Filipinos amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” the OVP said.

At least 42 doctors signed up as volunteers to do free teleconsultations, with three of them working at Bayanihan E-Konsulta on full-time status to supervise the project’s triage system. In addition, the project received 1,974 sign-ups for non-medical volunteers.

As this developed, the OVP also announced it is folding up its medical and burial assistance program by next Wednesday.

“As part of our preparation for the entry of the new administration, the OVP won’t be accepting applications for medical and burial assistance starting June 1.”

“We express our utmost gratitude for your trust. It is an honor to be of service to you,” it added.

Presumptive Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio is poised to take over Robredo’s office after the latter’s apparent defeat in the presidential race to the presidential daughter’s running mate, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
