The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will hold a national art competition for Filipino artists dubbed “2022 MMDA National Art Competition” for a chance to showcase their creativity and talent through drawing, painting, and other artistic forms.

MMDA chair Romando Artes said the competition “is a great opportunity for artists across the country to create and exhibit their works or art that will inspire others.”

Cash prizes await the winners. The first prize winner will receive P300,000 plus scholarship under the Art Residency Program, while the runner up will receive P200,000 and similar scholarship. Four finalists will also receive P50,000 each.

“As part of the MMDA’s mandate to preserve and further promote the culture, not just of Metro Manila, but of the entire country, we are launching the 2022 National Art Competition to encourage Filipino artists to showcase their skills,” Artes said.

“Through this competition, we can immortalize the varied yet rich culture of our country and appreciate it through visual arts,” he added.

The competition is an offshoot of the “I Love MM (Metro Manila)” metro-wide photography, songwriting, and painting contests in November last year which were held to highlight the National Capital Region’s growth and progress,.

The competition is open to all Filipino artists aged 18 to 35 years old. No participation fee is required.

Contestants must declare that their entry to the competition is their original work and has not been used or submitted to other competitions. They must also declare that their entry does not infringe on any third party’s copyright.
