Isko: Filipinos have grown tired of ‘factions’ in political arena

Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer  Isko  Moreno Domagoso on Wednesday called anew on Filipinos tired of being the victims of the drawn-out battle for power among the political elites to vote for him instead if they want “peace of mind” and tangible solutions to the country’s problems.

In a series of interviews in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, Moreno pointed out that despite the serious crisis facing the country, the public’s sense of urgency has been once again clouded by the heat of the political battle between the anti-Yellow Marcos faction, led by Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and the anti-Marcos Aquino faction now bannered by Vice President Leni Robredo.

“I notice that every presidential election, red and yellow are always talked about, the rival families or groups. The fight between red and yellow is very hot. It’s personal. Buy here, buy there. They’re both hooking each other. It’s really getting personal. The fight between red and yellow has not changed” he noted.

If elected, Moreno vowed his administration will pursue a “Life and Livelihood” economic policy that aims to address poverty, hunger, unemployment, inequality, and social injustice through an inclusive and equitable infrastructure development program as spelled out under his 10-point Bilis Kilos Economic Agenda.

And just like what he did in the Philippine capital, a Moreno government will be an open, transparent and inclusive administration which will be politically color blind in filling out various positions, he said.

“I can work with anybody. Because the basis of my hiring people is based on merits, skills and field of undertaking. I am color blind in all the appointments I made. That is, even my political opponents back in the day in Manila, became department heads. Because I saw that they were good, and they delivered,” he said.

“I mean, when you really put aside the giant, you really put aside the fight, you put aside the deprived, it’s easier for the person to move on. That’s what I’m going to focus on, people first, let’s cross the crisis first. And what we need is a crisis manager. Not recovery, not color, but those who act, those who work,” Moreno added.

But for the meantime, the Aksyon Demokratiko presidential candidate said he will be focused and persistent in reaching as many places as possible and reach out to as many people as possible to make his dream for all Filipinos become a reality.

Moreno meanwhile welcomed the result of the Pulse Asia survey showing that his voter share in Mindanao grew from 8 percent in Februwhile ary to 9 percent this March.

The latest Pulse Asia survey also showed Moreno the top pick for the second-choice presidential candidate at 23 percent, followed by Senator Panfilo Lacson at 13 percent, Vice President Leni Robredo at 10 percent, and former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at 8 percent.
