Robredo seeks Mindoro priests’ help to fight misinformation

Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday met with priests in Oriental Mindoro, seeking their help to fight disinformation against candidates.

The presidential candidate visited the Pinamalayan municipality and told the Diocesan priests that their biggest problem was “disinformation machinery” that had been prevailing for many years.

Robredo said she is working with different religious groups to enable her gather the best practices to stop disinformation during elections.

“It doesn’t have to be a campaign for me but the truth so that the people’s decisions are based on the truth,” she said.

The priests vowed to “campaign for the truth.”

Pink-clad supporters of Robredo, mostly the youth, welcomed her at the Pinamalayan Park.

The Vice President cited the powerful force of youth.

“The youth here, who among you are first-time voters? Many of you are first-time voters. When it is your first time, you would not like to waste it,” she said.

“This is why I am asking you as first-time voters to use the power in your hands. Do not waste your vote by voting wrong,” Robredo added.
