PROMDI presidential candidate Sen. Manny Pacquiao said he wants Pateros to be a world-class exporter of ‘balut’ and salted egg as he aired his support for this small local government unit.

Should he become President, Pacquiao guaranteed no town or city will be left behind in his campaign against poverty and corruption.

During his visit Tuesday to Pateros, a small southern Metro Manila town, Pacquiao said that all towns and cities, big or small, must get all the support.

P5K CHALLENGE. Presidential candidate Manny Pacquiao buys fresh chicken from a vendor at the Balintawak Public Market on Wednesday as he conducts his own ‘P5,000 Challenge’ to see how much basic goods he could get for his budget.

He said this will ensure that all Filipinos, including those residing in small municipalities like Pateros, can have decent homes and livelihood.

In the continuation of his campaign sorties, Team Pacquiao navigated through the narrow streets of Pateros on a motorcade before conducting a forum with the fire victims of Brgy. San Juan together with the town’s tricycle drivers and ambulant vendors.

He also visited Pateros Mayor Ike Ponce III as a show of courtesy and respect.

In the forum, Pacquiao said he would “discipline” all government officials, and those who would not toe the line in his war against corruption will be arrested and jailed.

Pacquiao said the only way for Filipinos to trust and respect their leaders is for them to see that the government is dead serious in its campaign against corrupt officials.

He also stressed the importance of having a leader who fears God and is devoted to His teachings.

Due to corruption, he said the government lost huge amounts of money.

Pacquiao said the government’s revenue became smaller and smaller while the budget grew bigger.

He lamented that the Philippines is continuously abused and plundered by corrupt government officials because the people lack discernment and are easily deceived with lofty campaign promises.

The senator also cited the need for the government to give attention even to small municipalities and rural communities that are often neglected in terms of funding and infrastructure support.

Pacquiao said this imbalance must be addressed to optimize the economic potential of these small municipalities and provide equal opportunities to all Filipinos.
