The Bureau of Customs seized 21 kilos of meat products from arriving passengers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport who could not show their  import clearance.

BAI-NAIA Director Reynaldo Quilang said the meat products were confiscated from passengers arriving from China, Malaysia and Vietnam on Saturday. The confiscated meat products were turned over to the Bureau of Animal Industry.

Importation or bringing in of meat products  from other countries is strictly prohibited due to the spread of African Swine Fever.

He said confiscated  meat products were sausages and chicken feet placed inside the luggage of the arriving passengers which were discovered on inspection by BOC examiners.

BOC-NAIA also confiscated about 8.2 kilos of different fruits and vegetables which were about to be brought in by passengers from China.
