Aquino in hospital for routine check, denies cop’s claim of ‘heart surgery’

The camp of former President Benigno Aquino III on Monday denied a report he was having a heart operation in Makati City.

Aquino’s spokesman Abigail Valte said the former president went to the Makati Medical Center for a routine checkup.

“He’s all right and in high spirits, and he thanks everyone for their concern,” she said.

She rejected the claim of Makati City police Chief Rogelio Simon that Aquino would have heart surgery.

She said Simon had no business issuing such a statement or “medical bulletin” about Aquino, adding he was not even a doctor or Aquino’s attending physician.
