The Social Security System has sought police assistance to arrest at least seven members of the board of directors of Busan Universal Rail Inc. for failure to remit workers’ contributions and penalties worth P22 million.

Those facing arrest are Belinda Tan, Elizabeth Velasco, Eldonn Ferdinand Uy, Brian Velasco, Antonio Borromeo, Park Jong Tae, and Elpidio Silvestre Uy.

Berna Inacay, SSS-National Capital Region’s south legal department head, said BURI was not able to remit the monthly contributions of its 428 workers since 2016.

BURI is the former maintenance provider of MRT line 3 under the Aquino administration.

Inacay said SSS personnel, along with the Makati City police operatives, went to BURI’s last known address in Salcedo Village, Makati, but the company was no longer holding office there.

Authorities, however, proceeded to another BURI’s address on Washington Street, also in Makati City, to no avail.

Inacay said BURI continued to ignore the government’s repeated notices to give it the opportunity to explain and rectify its deficiencies.
