An alleged abduction attempt involving foreigners at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport had been foiled over the weekend.

A police report showed the incident happened around 6:23 p.m. on Saturday, at Gate 7 departure curbside of NAIA Terminal 3.

In its initial investigation, the NAIA’s Aviation Security Group found that there was an abduction attempt involving Chinese and Taiwanese nationals.

Based on the report, the duty officer at Gate 6 apparently heard a commotion and noticed a scuffle between several Chinese nationals who were seen forcing someone to get inside a white van, with conduction sticker VG 8479, parked in front of Gate 7.

The supposed victims apparently ran inside the airport to seek help from airport personnel.

Patrolman Ronald Bercasi ordered the individuals to stay away from the vehicle as police officers came to the scene.

The suspects were identified as Jhong Ruei Yu, Zhang Lee, Yang Shuwen, Wei Chong, Ziu Cheng, Chen Xin, and Qi Long.

Four Chinese nationals and a Taiwanese were initially held at Gate 7 for verification. Officers conducted a body search and divested from the foreigners some P260,000 cash, mobile phones, and IDs.

They were brought to the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame on Sunday morning, the report said.
