Senator Ronald dela Rosa pointed out on Tuesday that it was the government’s shortcomings as behind the rise of a vigilante group tagged behind the Negros Oriental violence which claimed the lives of 25 people in just one month.

“Umusbong ang grupo na ito na apparently vigilante group dahil sa kakulangan ng gobyerno,” Dela Rosa told reporters after emerging from the Senate committees on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs and Justice and Human Rights, which he both chaired. He said it’s the first time he heard the name of the anti-communist group.

Dela Rosa’s committees started the hearing on the killings in Negros Oriental of 25 persons from July 18, 2019 to Aug. 18, 2019.  The investigation was prompted by Senate Resolution No. 47 which was filed by Senator Risa Hontiveros.

He said five of the fatalities are in the hit list of the Kawsa Guihulnganon Batok Kumunista (KAGUBAK), an anti-communist group.
