The Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino on Friday hit the Philippine Statistics Agency for its report that fewer Filipinos were jobless in April.

“The PSA report is deceitful,” the group’s president Leody de Guzman said.

He reacted to the latest PSA data that there were 42.2-million employed Filipinos as of April.

The figure represented an employment rate of 94.9 percent or an equivalent of 40.9-million Filipinos, PSA noted.

De Guzman dismissed the claim of the PSA that employment rate rose to 94.9 percent from the previous report of 94.5 percent, and the that unemployment went down by 5.1 percent “was deceitful if not outright ridiculous.”

He said the report covered the months under the electoral campaign season which provided millions of temporary jobs as campaigners and poll watchers from late last year to mid-May.
