A suspected drug ring leader was killed while his live-in partner was arrested during a buy-bust operation in Bacolod City Sunday morning.

Initial police report identified the slain supposed drug syndicate leader as 44-year-old Leoner Jalandoon, a high value target in the regional police watchlist in the government’s drug war in the Visayas.

The arrested live-in partner of Jalandoon was identified as Janine Cruz, 18, resident of Sitio Sibucao in Bacolod City.

The buy-bust happened at Estrella Subdivision Barangay 6 in Victorias City on Sunday morning

A report from the Police Regional Office-Western Visayas showed Jalandoon in a shootout after the suspect noticed that he was transacting with an undercover policeman.

Col. Romeo Baleros, director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said operatives employed precautionary measures since Jalandoon was considered “armed and dangerous.”

The slain suspect was supplying shabu to contacts in both Negros Occidental and Panay Island, Baleros added.

The suspect attempted to sell P27,000 worth of shabu to the undercover cop during Sunday’s sting operation.

Aside from the big sachet of shabu, police also seized 101 sachets of the prohibited substance with an estimated value of P2.7 million.

On Friday, a suspect was killed while eight others were arrested in various anti-drug operations conducted by the police in the cities of Bacolod and Silay in Negros Occidental.

The fatality, Ronillo Morillo, a high-value target in Silay City, was shot by operatives after he fired at them during a buy-bust in Purok Sampaguita, Barangay E. Lopez.

Maj. Rollie Pondevilla, chief of the Silay City Police Station, said Morillo distributed drugs not only in Silay but also in the neighboring towns. With PNA
