The Supreme Court has allowed Janet Lim Napoles to leave her detention to attend hearings for her pending cases on the pork barrel and Malampaya fund scams.

The Sandiganbayan confirmed receipt of an SC notice signed by clerk of court Edgar Aricheta on March 22 saying the high court has the “request for exemption” of the anti-graft court.

The SC “resolved… continue the conduct in the Sandiganbayan of the proceedings involving Janet Lim Napoles as an accused and allow the latter to be transported to and from the Sandiganbayan whenever her presence will be required,” Aricheta said.

The anti-court has to secure the approval of the SC for Napoles to leave her detention cell at the Correctional Institute for Women in Mandaluyong City to attend the hearing after she was convicted of plunder which involved former Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr.

Last year, the Sandiganbayan’s First Division ruled that Napoles was found guilty of misusing the P224.5-million Priority Development Assistance Fund, or pork barrel, of Revilla.

Napoles is facing four plunder charges and at least 100 counts of graft at the Sandiganbayan.
