Two policemen who were responding to a vehicular accident were killed in an ambush by suspected New People’s Army rebels in Palawan Sunday morning.

Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup, Mimaropa police regional director, identified the victims as PO3 Alexander Mimbalawag and PO1 Julpetri Gustaham, both members of the Taytay Municipal Police Station in Palawan.

The victims were on their way back to camp after responding to the vehicular accident in Brgy. Bato in the town of Taytay when they were attacked by armed men in Sitio Nagtakayan.

Licup said authorities have now set up checkpoints in a bid to apprehend the suspected NPA rebels.
