FDA warns vs Korean cosmetic products with toxic content

Filipinas better stick with K-pop, and forget about Korean-made beauty products, at least those which did not pass rigid standards.

This after the Food and Drug Administration found out that several Korean cosmetic products contain high levels of antimony.

The FDA subsequently issued a warning against these cosmetic products that were banned and recalled by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in South Korea.

The FDA said at least 12 Korean cosmetic products should not be allowed for distribution and sale in the Philippines, including products from Aritaum, Etude House, XTM Style, Black Monster, Skeda, Skinfood, 3CE, and Makeheal, brands that contain dangerous amounts of antimony.

The FDA said exposure to high amounts of antimony “can result to damages to the lung, heart muscles and liver.”

Its symptoms include skin irritation, headache, nausea, vomiting, insomnia and abdominal pain, among others.

The FDA urged Filipinos to refrain from purchasing “unnotified and verified counterfeit cosmetic products,” which could pose serious threats to their health.
