SC urged to issue reso enabling SC execs to testify

House Justice Committee Chairman Reynaldo Umali is urging the Supreme Court (SC) to issue the resolution that allows SC officials and employees to attend the impeachment hearing in the House of Representatives.

Umali noted until now, the high tribunal has yet to release a decision stating that SC officials and employees may attend the impeachment proceedings against SC Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno.

The lawmaker says, the committee must be able to pose clarificatory questions to resource persons from the judiciary.

Umali stresses the House of Representatives is conducting impeachment hearings only to determine facts behind the impeachment complaint against Sereno.

He made these statements as he resumed the committee hearings today.
