House penalizes drivers leaving kids inside cars

The House of Representatives has appproved on third and final reading the bill that prohibits leaving of children inside vehicles.

The measure says, kids 8 years old and below cannot be left alone inside cars and other vehicles while their companions are doing errands and other tasks.

If parents or adults will leave the children inside the car to wait for them, the kids must be accompanied by responsible persons who are at least 18 years old and above.

The bill puts a fine of 5,000 pesos for any adult who will violate this piece of legislation at the first instance.

The second offense carries a fine of 10,000 pesos.

Authorities can also confiscate the license of the adult driver on the third instance.

The violator will face permanent revocation of driver's license after committing multiple violations.
